In the reading exam, you read short, simple Dutch texts and answer a total of 19 questions about them, in a maximum of 35 minutes. The texts cover everyday situations: work, grocery shopping, learning Dutch, going to the doctor.

Vandaag is mijn eerste dag op mijn nieuwe werk. Ik sta om zeven uur op. Ik drink snel een kopje koffie en ik eet een boterham. Om acht uur ga ik met de fiets naar kantoor. Onderweg regent het een beetje, maar ik heb gelukkig mijn jas aan. Op kantoor ontmoet ik mijn nieuwe collega's. Ze zijn heel vriendelijk. Mijn baas laat mij mijn bureau zien. Ik ben een beetje nerveus, maar ook blij.
Elke vrijdag doe ik boodschappen in de supermarkt. Ik koop brood, melk, groente en fruit. Ik neem ook altijd kaas mee, want mijn kinderen houden van kaas. Vandaag koop ik extra veel eten, want het is dit weekend feest bij ons thuis. Mijn familie komt op zaterdag op bezoek. Ik bak een taart en ik maak soep. Iedereen vindt mijn soep altijd heel lekker.
Ik woon nu een jaar in Nederland. In het begin sprak ik geen Nederlands. Nu volg ik elke week twee lessen bij een docent. Ik leer nieuwe woorden en ik oefen met spreken. Thuis kijk ik ook naar Nederlandse televisie. Dat helpt mij goed. Mijn buren spreken altijd Nederlands met mij, en dat vind ik fijn. Ik maak nog fouten, maar ik word elke dag een beetje beter.
Vanochtend voel ik me niet goed. Ik heb hoofdpijn en ik ben moe. Ik bel de huisarts en ik maak een afspraak. Om elf uur ga ik met de fiets naar de praktijk. De huisarts luistert goed naar mij en stelt vragen. Ze zegt dat ik veel moet rusten en veel water moet drinken. Ik krijg geen medicijnen op recept. Na een paar dagen thuis in bed voel ik me weer beter.
